Toxin Information

Pre-Treatment Instructions for Toxin


  • Arrive for the appointment with no make-up
  • Refrain from taking any anti-inflammatories or blood- thinning medications for at least 3 days prior to the injection. This will decrease the risk of bruising
  • On the day of the treatment, patients should avoid extreme heat, strenuous exercise and applying alcohol-containing products directly on the area to be treated.
  • The treatment should be done at least 2 weeks prior to an important event so there is
  • enough time for bruising or erythema to resolve


Post-Treatment Instructions for Toxin


  • Do not massage, rub or apply pressure to the treated area for 6 hours after treatment
  • Avoid aspirin, Ibuprofen, and drinking alcohol for 2 days following treatment
  • Do not exercise for 4 hours post treatment.
  • Tight clothing on forehead is not permitted
  • Apply topical Arnica Montana cream to any areas with redness, bruising or swelling (optional)
  • It is recommended not to wear makeup for the next 24 hours
  • Avoid exposure to the sun and cold outdoor activities until redness from treatment dissipates
  • Do not restart Retinol or Retin-A for 2 days
  • Stay erect; do not lie down for at least 4 hours
  • You may experience occasional tingling sensations
  • An immediate headache is common especially if it is your first treatment with toxin
  • It can take 2-14 days to take full effect. Botox can last 3-4 months

Dermal Filler

Potential Side Effects Related to Treatment with Dermal Filler


  • Inflammatory reactions (erythema, edema, redness) may be associated with itching, pain or pressure. These reactions may last for a week.
  • The risk of bruising/hematoma. To minimize the risk of bruising, those who take are taking an anti-inflammatory, vitamin E or aspirin are advised to discontinue use approximately 2-3 days prior to the injection
  • Staining or decolouration at the injection site “Tyndall Effect” from hyaluronic acid products. 
  • Induration or nodules at the injection site. Usually resolves within 1-2 weeks.
  • Visibility of the product may need to be treated with hyaluronidase.
  • Poor or weak filling effect where a second treatment may be necessary.
  • Recurrence of a cold sore. Lip enhancement clients with a history of the herpes virus are at an increased risk of developing a cold sore post treatment. This is since the herpes virus lives within the vermilion border of the lip, which is also the area injected. For clients with a chronic history of cold sores or who have had an outbreak in the past 6 months, an anti-viral is prescribed and is taken post treatment.
  • Necrosis, abscess formation, granuloma and immediate or delayed hypersensitivity have been reported


Pre-Treatment Instructions for Dermal Fillers


  • Arrive for the appointment with no make-up
  • Refrain from taking any anti-inflammatories or blood- thinning medications for at least 3 days prior to the injection. This will decrease the risk of bruising
  • On the day of the treatment, patients should avoid extreme heat, strenuous exercise and apply alcohol-containing products directly on the area to be treated.
  • The treatment should be done at least 2 weeks prior to an important event so there is enough time for bruising or erythema to resolve
  • Recommended to eat or drink prior to treatment so to limit the facial movements post treatment


Post-Treatment Instructions for  Dermal Fillers


  • Avoid exaggerated facial expressions for 2-4 hours after the injection.
  • Avoid extended exposure to intense sunshine or extreme heat (tanning salon, sauna bath etc.) for 2 days after the injection.
  • Avoid handling and massaging the skin around the injection site.
  • If possible, avoid wearing makeup today. Gentle cleansing and moisturizer is acceptable. You may apply make- up and resume normal skincare products the day after the injection.
  • If you have lip fillers, avoid kissing, puckering, using a straw and “lip plumpers” This can displace the filler material and cause complications.
  • Immediately apply ice to the area treated with very light pressure to reduce swelling. Ice should be applied for 10-20 minutes and then removed for 10-20 minutes. This cycle can be continued throughout today.
  • Mild to moderate bruising is very common with fillers. Apply topical and/or oral Arnica Montana to help with any areas of bruising and/or swelling (optional).
  • Staying well hydrated can improve results. Filler attracts and binds to water to add volume to the skin.
  • Avoid facials, peel, micro-dermabrasion, dental treatment, “face down” massages for 2 weeks. Sleep on your back for the next few nights.
  • The effect of filler is immediate with full effect in 7 to 10 days.


**Contact your nurse injector immediately to report any pain, redness, blisters, itching or skin blanching after dermal filler treatment.

Belkyra/Deoxycholic Acid Information 

Pre-Treatment Instructions for Belkyra/Deoxycholic Acid


  • Please eat a small snack of meal prior to procedure to reduce the risk of a vaso-vagal response (fainting)
  • Please allow for 4-6 weeks of recovery. Keep in mind important events during this recovery period.
  • Avoid ASA, Ibuprofen and vitamins that increase risk of bleeding re: omega 3 vitamins
  • Avoid alcohol 24 hours prior to treatment


Post-Treatment Instructions for Belkyra/Deoxycholic Acid


  • Apply an ice pack to the treated area intermittently; 15 minutes on and off.
  • Take Tylenol if you experience any mild tenderness or discomfort ± use as directed on the bottle.
  • Drink plenty of water for 48 hours following treatment.
  • For 4 hours following the injection, stay in an upright position ± do not rest your head or lie down.

Micro-needling Patient Information

The micro-needling procedure is performed in a safe and precise manner with a single use sterile needle head. The treatment session usually takes about 30 minutes, depending on the area(s) being treated. After the procedure, the skin will be red, with mild swelling and/or bruising, and your skin might feel tight and sensitive to the touch. Although these symptoms may take 2-3 days to resolve completely, they will diminish significantly within a few hours after treatment.


Strict aseptic technique must be maintained throughout the procedure to decrease the risk of infection. An antiviral must be prescribed prior to the treatment if the treatment involves the peri-oral or nasal area.


The following must be discussed and understood by the patient prior to consenting to a micro-needling treatment:

  • No guarantee can be given to the condition of the skin or degree of improvement  expected following treatment.
  • Multiple treatments and the use of the recommended home skin care maintenance are required to achieve optimal results.
  • Treatments are not recommended for someone who is pregnant or lactating.
  • Sunscreen- SPF 35 or higher- must be applied at least 30 minutes prior to sun exposure.
  • In rare cases allergies or sensitivities have been reported to products during treatments.
  • The following are all contraindications that will prevent from receiving treatment
  • Infected skin disorder, open cuts, wounds, or abrasions 
  • Cardiovascular disease, a pacemaker
  • Anxiety issues
  • Epilepsy
  • Diabetes
  • Pregnant
  • Sunburned or irritated skin
  • Untreated sinusitis
  • Numb areas without sensitivity
  • The following side effects could occur:
  • Fever blisters could develop
  • Little white dots can appear following treatment, typically these are retention cysts and can be treated by firmly wiping them away and applying a tiny amount of antibiotic ointment/cream.

Microchanneling Information

Pre-Treatment Instructions for Microchanneling


  • No Retin-A or Retinol products 24 hours prior to your treatment.
  • No prolonged sun exposure to the face 24 hours prior to your treatment. A
  • microchanneling treatment will not be administered on sunburned skin.
  • On the day of the treatment, please keep your face clean and do not apply  makeup.
  • If you are taking a blood thinner, please inform your nurse.
  • Ensure 2 weeks post neuromodulator treatment before microchanneling.
  • If an active or extreme breakout occurs before treatment, please consult your practitioner.
  • Wait 6 months following oral isotretinoin use.


Post-Treatment Instructions for Microchanneling


  • For at least 3 days, do NOT use any Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acids, Retin-A, Retinol (Vitamin A), Vitamin C (in a low pH formula) or any other actives.
  • Avoid intentional and direct sunlight for at least 48 hours.
  • Do not go swimming and avoid hot tubs, steam rooms and saunas for at least 24 hours post-treatment.
  • No exercising or strenuous activity for the first 24 hours post-treatment
  • Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and cool water for the first 24 hours.
  • Avoid touching your face and ensure your hands are clean if you must touch your face.
  • Your skin may feel warm and tight, like a mild sunburn.
  • Moisturize often with a gentle moisturizer.
  • It is recommended that makeup and sunscreen not be applied for 24 hours after the procedure. If using makeup, ensure tools are clean e.g. brushes.
  • Use sunscreen daily after 24 hours post procedure.
  • For your first treatment, you can expect mild redness and swelling and a tight, warm sensation between 4 to 24 hours.
  • Later treatments, or those with longer needle lengths may produce redness and swelling along with tiny flecks of redness for between 4 to 72 hours.
  • Mild skin sloughing may occur for a few days after the treatment.
  • Mild acne and milia can occur in rare cases. Don’t pick; they should go away in a few days.
  • Follow up treatment in 2-6 weeks depending on regimen and goals.
  • If prolonged irritation occurs, please contact the clinic.

Platelet Rich Plasma Information

Pre-Treatment Instructions for Platelet Rich Plasma


  • Arrive for the appointment with no make-up or hair gels
  • Refrain from taking any anti-inflammatories or blood- thinning medications such as Vitamin E, Garlic, Cod Liver Oil, Omega 3, ASA, Motrin, Advil x 1 week prior to treatment This will decrease the risk of bruising. If unable to do so, please inform the nurse injector performing your treatment.
  • On the day of the treatment, patients should avoid extreme heat and strenuous exercise as this may increase the risk of bruising.
  • Eat a healthy meal and stay hydrated throughout the day to reduce risk of a vasovagal reaction (fainting) as well as allow easier venipuncture (blood draw)
  • Avoid alcohol 72 hours prior to the treatment
  • Washing hair prior to treatment is recommended for PRP hair


Post-Treatment Instructions for Platelet Rich Plasma


  • No NSAIDS x 7 days post treatment
  • No Alcohol 72 hours post treatment
  • Avoid blood thinning agents such as Vitamin E, Garlic, Cod Liver Oil, Omega 3 x 72 hours post to limit bruising and promote healing
  • Avoid strenuous exercise x 24 hours post treatment
  • Avoid hot sauna/swimming pools x 4 days post treatment
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure x 4 days post treatment
  • The longer the PRP with micro needling stays on the skin, the better the results Facial Rejuvenation
  • The skin may appear reddish or pink with mild swelling. Severity will depend upon how aggressive the treatment was performed and how your skin reacts
  • Wash the face thoroughly 4 hours after the treatment. Gently massage the face with tepid water and remove all serum and other debris (there may be some dried blood that you can remove at this time). You may use a very gentle cleanser avoiding any type with acids such as AHA and scrubs.
  • No facial treatments x 2 weeks post treatment
  • Avoid the sun for 48 hours post treatment. Use a good sunscreen with a minimum SPF 30 for two weeks, preferably paraben free to decrease the chance of irritation.
  • For the first few days after treatment the skin will be very dry, rough and tight. Use a moisturizer 2-3 times a day to soothe the skin while speeding up the recovery process. Mineral makeup can be used the day after your treatment.
  • After 2-3 days, you may resume your normal skin care routine. Vitamin A products are recommended, as well as peptides and growth factors.
  • For the optimum results, it is suggested to do 3 treatments 4-6 weeks apart.
  • To maintain the results, the treatment should be repeated 1-2 times a year.

Hair Restoration Information

Post-Treatment Instructions for Hair Restoration


  • You must not wash your hair for 4 hours after the treatment.
  • After 4 hours, you may gently wash your hair to remove any remaining blood.
  • May wash hair normally 24 hours post treatment
  • For the first few days after treatment the scalp may feel dry and tight.
  • For the optimum results, it is suggested to do 3 treatments 2 weeks apart.
  • To maintain the results, the treatment should be repeated 1-2 times a year.
